Mag-drive or mechanical seal? A cost-of-ownership comparison
Sealless pumps cost more up front. On the fluids where seals fail every eighteen months, they pay back inside two years.

We compared ten years of service records on 140 pumps in chemical duty. Sealed pumps averaged 2.1 seal replacements per pump; mag-drive units averaged 0.3 bearing changes.
The break-even moves with fluid cost, environmental exposure and labour rates. The article includes the spreadsheet we use with customers.
